29Gal/w surge device

This is more of a 2 part project. The first part is going to be building a surge device roughly based on "Eric Borneman's flush." Instead of proting the pvc out the side of my container, I am going right through the bottom. I wish I know how to do diagrams on the computer but I am not great with that stuff. I have read many articles on the net of people building these devices for their tanks. They go on to explain how they have seen thier corals really react positivley to the explosive current that happpens when the device dumps into their tank. There is of course a lot of questions about bubbles that develop because of the water being dumped in. Some people believe that the bubble act like a protein skimmer by pulling debrie up to the top of the water for overflow to sweep away. I will of course be running a protein skimmer in my sump.

The second thing that I will be trying is this idea that was proposed in a magazine called "aquarium fish international" The article was called "The Minimilist" It was about how people build what is described as the "fruit stand" or what we call "the wall." The article goes on to decribe aquascaping your tank more like you see in nature a few flat rocks with one or two compatible corals. The idea is that you will get more flow and have fewer dead spots in the aquarium. For some people this will probably boring just to have one or two corals, but I really like the idea, becuase I do not like a lot of clutter. My first project though will be the "surge device" I will of course take pics.
