Well since i have been using much of everyones input for this new project of mine I thought i would start a tread from start to finish. Appreciate everyones input or criticism, suggestions. This will be my biggest tank I've done. I will post pictures along the way. thanks for everyones help and knowledge.
This looks to be a flatback hex, see through divider tank. Cool. Keep us up to date.

There use to be a half wall there, never liked it, this was my solution. flat side is 80 in, 30 in deep and 24 in tall.
tank not plumbed yet but will have 10 by 10 in pre filter in center. Chiller will be plumbed through the wall next to the front door and placed outside. Stand will be finished in coral lite stone. still working on design for canopy, hence all the questions on LEDS. 60 or 72 in solaris most likley. ordered blueline 40 hd and 40 hdx pumps. will build the sump and havent decided on protein skimmer. much work but will be worth it i think.
Gonna throw this out there for input, When it come to physics of water flow, Im a little rusty. debating with plumbing 1/2 vs 3/4 pipe. two pumps 1270 gph to 4 returns on top at each end, 2nd pump 790 gph in a closed loop from bottom of tank to 4 returns at each end of tank in bottom. This smaller pump will loop thru chiller. pre-filter will be in center of tank. Idea is to circle the tank flow with outputs on top and bottom. Dont want any circulators or powerheads in tank. Want nice clean look, for the fact its see thru tank. Also anyone out there have LEDs running on an odd shape tank other then a rectangle, like flat hex? concerned with coverage from single light unit, front to back of a 30inch wide by 24 inch deep tank. long side 80 inch and front hex is 48 inch. Appreciate everyones ideas and suggestions
Have you, could you, draw up a piping diagram as you described it above? I'm having trouble with it in my mind (and I'm a 40 yr retired pipe fitter). It would also help me with the design of your sump.
Thanks
Dick

Dick,
Sorry been out of town, I will draw you a diagram, but if you have any ideas draw em up for me. basically closed loop on bottom with chiller returning four jets 2 at each end. sump return four jets, 2 each end at top of tank. I'll draw it up, not set in stone yet.
