I have only been doing water changes (10-12 gallons) about every other week. But my water parameters rock. I am assuming that the good water parameters, a reasonably cycled tank, and very light bioload is why my
skimmer hasn't been producing too much. Everythign seems happy, so it works for me. I do want to check my
skimmer and return pump this week and see if they need cleaning yet. I figure even if the
skimmer pump is reasonably clean, getting some stuff on the needle wheel impeller could be impacting the performance. Anyone have any reccommendations on how ofter they clean their
skimmer pump? (If you have somehting similar to a Euro-Reef CS100.)
I cleaned my powerheads last week. And once again my Tunze 6060 is too powerful and blowing the sand around at the other end of the tank. I have it lowered all the way down to just over the rock to stop that. You can kinda see in the pic above as the current came down the right side from the top it was pushing the sand. I really need a Vortech so I can adjust the flow!

But that is not in the budget for now. I am considering a piece of plastic to block some intake to tone it down. I also my just try the large Koralia. Then I could compare that to the Nanostream 6045 that is in there since they are similar flow rattings.
