So i've now added most of my rock today. I spent quite a bit of time arranging it! It can be very frustrating aquascaping if you're not in the right frame of mind. I'd like to get more height later on right up to the overflow.
I've noticed some little coral growth on my rock (hopefully alive). Can you ID these? I have no idea what they are. The top right picture is actually has some green in the centre of the circles.
I've very proud of the centre purple rock here: it's a very nice shape/colour
When i first got it it had a large orange coloured "mushroom" on it. It kind of looked like a big ear. It didn't survive the curing process unfortunatly.
Hi guys check out my latest addition... a 10cm male blue throat trigger! He's pretty shy and not a monster like how most triggers are regarded. He was caught from the red sea. I'd say about a year old? I'm very happy... no regrets about him
Here's a shot of a starfish that comes out at night. In the background is my little blue tang sleeping in her new spot. She seems to have outgrown her other spot.
My blue throat trigger annoyingly only eats brine shrimp! i've tried mysis and he just spits it out and hes gotten much skinnier because of it. He's back on brine for now
Brine is not very nutritious. You should soak in in vitamins while trying to get him to something healthier. I've never had one of these beauties so I can't give you any advice on what he might like better.
Triggers like meaty foods - so try a variety. Krill or squid would be my next attempt. Also, a company called Ocean Nutrition makes a food called Priime Reef. It's a mixture of raw seafoods that I bet your trigger would love. This company also makes a food specifically created for triggers, but I have no experience with it.
And Carmie is correct, soak the food in a vitamin suplement like Selcon. However, I would first get him used to eating each different food before adding the vitamins. Based upon the reactions by my fish, I can tell when I add too much vitamin suplement - they don't like the food as much!
Kool thanks for weighing in i'll try some squid, i really want to fatten him up
I've got a question to put out there for you ... Have you ever been staring at your rockscape and then suddenly you see a puff of "smoke" come out from it? Sometimes it can be a short puff but othertimes it can be for about 5 seconds long! It's a bit of a mystery to me. Could it be the rock breaking down?
