I'm a longtime listener to Talking Reef but still a bit clumsy on the forums.
Here is the 3 gallon Picotope I have set up on my desk at work, with the endorsement of my supervisor who is a fellow reef keeper! (He has a 125 at home)
I set this up the first week in January, as it was a Christmas gift from my sons. It has established substrate and live rock from my 29 gallon at home. In addition there is one 2 lb piece of cured live rock from the LFS.
Equipment includes 2 nano HOB filters, one running empty, one with activated carbon; a 50 watt titanium heater, a small powerhead, and a 9 watt 50/50 light.
I stocked it with a clown fish and a starry blenny.
So far no indication of any amonia/nitrite and only a trace of nitrate. I've been changing 16 ounces of water weekly.
The fish are doing great and are super companions in an office environment.
Two small zoanthid colonies seem happy, but my xenia frag died after a week. It seemed to be thriving, but shrivled up within 2 days after I added the activated carbon. Thoughts anyone?
I want to add more to this tank keeping in mind that it IS at work. Please add your thoughts and advice. I'm only 7 months into the saltwater hobby.
Initial water is basic Instant Ocean mixed with distilled water from Wal-Mart.
A 12 gallon Via-Aqua. The only problem I found, was that when I was on travel, nobody helped me top off etc. You may have better luck than I, with the boss being a salty dawg too!
You may also want to ask that the cleaning crew at the office keep far away. I lost a system due to chemicals once. They thought they were doing me a favor by cleaning the glass *sigh*
I really like ur tank, i wish i still had my little 12 g nano, but things happen, love your tank, dont know bout the anenome, but keep up the good work.
How long has the tank been setup? 2 fish in a 3 gallon is really....really pushing it. Starry blennys grown to 5" And clowns around 3". I would stick with a shrimp, or maybe a small goby at the most. A few sexy shrimp would be a good option too.

The tank is only a month old -- but with well established live rock and substrate from a home set up. I agree that I'm pushing it, and can't believe my luck so far. If the Blenney grows much I'll transfer him to another tank.
So far everything seems happy and I'm getting no indications of water conditions going bad.
The clown is a "stubby" variety that is supposed to stay small. My LFS has been ordering them for nano set ups. I haven't been able to find anything written about them. Could be a bunch of hooey -- though this store is the best!
The two nano filters should be doing about 80 gph combined, plus whatever the powerhead is doing (maybe another 30-40 gph?).
