Looks great, like your attitude of going slow. (slow and steady wins the race)

---------------------------------------- Fibber's Cay
To some extent it depends on the rock but 1.5-2 lbs a gallon should be fine. It also depends on the look that you like. You can also use LR in your sump. (I don't remember if you have a sump for sure, but it is an option if you have one.)
yes I do and I am going to be adding lr as soon as I get my overflow lead under control tomorrow. It's cool I have found 3 little tiny feather dusters as least I think they are on one of my LR one is red and it like to go in and out of this little white thing that forms its trunk
Ok, so I have everything running now. I had some initial problems with my plumbing, for the reason being I did not know that you need this special tape to put around the threads of male adapters. I had a leak at almost every adapter that I had installed, so I called my dad who is mister handy man, and he said that I needed to buy this certain tape that they sell for plumbers. Anyway that fixed the problem. Now my new problem is my overflow box is leaking underneath, and this is going to require me to stop my pump drain the water from my overflow box and do my surgery. I have one other problem and that is the heater, it sucks. I can not get the heat to go above 72 degrees, and I think that is because I didnt realize that when I bought it, I thought that up to 30 gal. would be fine, not realizing that I have more then 30 because of my sump. All that will be fixed today. I was wondering if anyone could help me with identifying these litte critters on my glass and LR. The critters on the LR have white trunks and these red feather like tops that go in and out, and they are really small. I also have these little brown bordering on translucent specs on my glass that are moving around please help.
Today I hopefully fixed my overflow leak, but I have to wait 24hrs for it to bond. When I tested the first day I had my water I didnt let the test tube sit for 5 min. like the direction said so my reading were off. Today will be the first day then for me that I had an ammonia spike. My readings for the day go.... Ammonia .50 Nitrite .0 Nitrate .0
ok it has been awhile since my last log onto my journal. Everthing thing seems to be going as well as expected with the setup. Right now I am in the middle of my cycle and everything seems to be right where it should be as of today my readings are as follows ammonia. .50 Nitrites 1.0 Nitrates 10 salanity is a little high at about 1.027. my temp has been averaging around 75 degrees coming down to about 74.5 at night and rising to about 75.9 during the day. I think what concerns me is that my tank remains clear, even with the rise of my nitrates. I added a powerhead yesturday which is another step towards finishing my initial setup of my tank I will get another soon. My aquaC remora HOB is on its way and it should be here January 3. I also have to work on getting a refractometer for accuracy purposes because I have grown to not trust my hydrometer. I am debating weather to take out the two shrimp that I had put in there, because I think that is one of the things continually feeding my ammonia. Wow evaporation seems to be a big issue, I know now why I need to buy a water top off. My last big purchase is going to be my lighting, which will be sometime next month probably more towards the end of the month.
yea I think I am going to take it out tonight. My nitrites right now are on fire I think they are really feeding off from the ammonia from the shrimp in there.
I did it was good a little smelly, but man was it tender lol. I pulled what I could out of the water and when that smell hit me I thought I was going to hurl
