just keep an eye out on the forum boards that you go to. when i upgraded from a 55g to my current 125g it only costed me $200 for the RR tank, stand and canopy, so this shows that there are good deals out there. what i did to save some cash (well ... it did not hurt as bad) was just buy everything piece by piece over a 2-month period. this way, while your cycle is going on you can add the new (or used) equipment slowly and you will be forced to take your time. some things can always be added later, like a skimmer ... if you do faithful water changes the skimmer can wait for a little while. it is much easier to do all of this on a bigger tank because of the water volume. HTH

Actually got rid of the 37 gal a couple months back, I craigs listed it. I am now running a 75 gal.
