Greetings!!
It has been a while since I updated this thread. My tank has gone through some minor changes in the past two months. My new
fuge is awesome. My
nitrates have been undetectable for three solid weeks.
Cheato and
sawblade grass are growing like mad. I took my fist batch of extra macro in to my
LFS and they sold it to a customer before I left. After the
fuge had
been set up for a month I started to get a
cyno break out. The
cyno only grew in my
fuge and the display
tank was unaffected. I started the
fuge with 24 hour lighting. I have since cut back to 14 hours ( after the main tank lights go off ). This has cut back on the
cyno and I think it soon will be gone. I also added a 112gph
powerhead to the
fuge to help out. I believe the
fuge is going through a cycle just as my main tank did. The pod population has exploded. The podcast on pods really came at the right time for me and I have found myself laying on the floor at midnight looking at all the life that I have down there. I will be adding some flow to the tank soon and am trying to decide on a closed loop of a couple of SEIOS. If I do decide to do a closed loop i will need to use some elbows to make it work. I was thinking of a Mag 36 (3000gph@6ft head) of a Quiet One9000 (2328gph). I like the SEIOS but after seeing them in person they are quite large and would kinda be an eyesore. I had a
Naso tang for about three weeks. He did not eat much and before I could get him to the
LFS he died. After posting on the forums I began keeping a
nori clip in full time. He seemed to have some competition problems with the other fish even though he was twice as big as any of them. I was upset that I let one of these beautiful creatures die and will be doing much more research before buying any more fish. My yellow tang is the king of the tank and I will need to find another tang that can put up with his taunting. I now have a pair of clowns that have become best
friends. I will be looking for an
anemone suitable for my tank so that maybe they will host. I like the carpet
anemones but have heard horror stories about them. My
birdsnest SPS is growing like crazy. I have counted 12 new branches starting to form since it was added to the tank. As for the water parameters the only problem I seem to be having is with
phosphates(1
ppm). I will be adding a
phosreactor soon and hope that this will help out. Not much else has been going on so I will stop babbling. Thanks to all that have helped me get this far. Only two more months and my tank will be 1 year old.
