hmmmm..... need another 65g for fuge, pumps (an order away, have money, prob monday), need to drill tank, and plumb, depending on how fast i can get the stuff id say 1-3 weeks (im hopeful)
Im planning on using a single 250 MH fixture for a couple months just so i can see in the tank. This is so i can save up alot for a new lighting fixture (there will be no coral in this time period)
I'd go for the solaris LED fixture if i win the lottery or had the patience to save up enough.
All in all, im going to take my time and not rush into anything (if i can help it)
Well, no big huge updates like my systems wet, ooor, any updates at all. but due to a recent LFS visit i decided to start up my nano cube again. Mainly becuase he offered me some free live rock that he has no room for (its actually good rock, he just has a shipment coming in). so yeah, all i have to invest in is sand and im all set. Im also going to build it a stand becuase i had very little access to it on my desk.
Im planning to stock it lightely, Pair of clowns, pair of Skunk cleaners, thats it. Prob no corals (or low light ones, we'll see). It will all end up in my 120 when i'm done (it seems further off by the day).
School is kicking my butt right now (stupid vacation) but when i get caught up (prob next weekend) ill be startin her up, ill keep you all updated.
well, a moment of weekness for all, my mom said no, so then im like w/e, and ordered all my pumps, bulkheads, and heater. AND THEY CAME IN TODAY!!!!
So what i got-
1-reeflow dart 3600GPH pump
1-Mag 12 for sump/fuge return
4-1" bulkheads (for tank>sump>fuge>fuge2>return)
1-2" bulkhead (for dart intake)
1-1 1/2" bulkhead (will be split into two 3/4" returns inside tank. return for dart)
2-Visotherm 300 watt heaters.
A grand total of $537.33 (out of my own hard-working pocket thank you very much)
So tomorow, i clean out the room behind the tank so i can start getting it set up.
Within the next week, will build new stand for sump and fuge1, paint and seal display stand and seal sump and fuge1 stand, while the tank is being drilled (my dad and mom are paying for this )
Within the next month or so, i will probably get my lighting, i will then build the canopy.
ALSO. my uncle picked a very good time to get out of the hobby. So i get his ro/di filter, possibly his lighting (he has a corner tank so i can use it for a fuge light), and once my tank is cycled, i get his geourgeous red belly regal tang and two yellow tangs (havent decided if i want these yet.)
So thats the plan, and i'm gonna do my best to make sure it all pans out.
I just came back from toronto (windsor is garbage as far as lfs's go, and out of teh 20 glass stores, they all ran for cover when i asked them to drill the tank). there is an excellent store in toronto name oakville reef gallery, only carries SW and top-of-the line stuff (ice cap, euro-reef, Deltec, the list goes on).
Anywho, the owner drills tanks, although he was somewhat hesistant to drill the *@$% out of a 3/8" tank. But anywho, he had me and my dad help him out (hold template and water and shtuff) and i even answered the phone a couple of times (it rang like every 2 minutes!!!).
So, after about 2 and a half hours of drilling (lots of customers and calls), i got 6 new glass coasters out of the deal (oh, and a very hole-y tank to go with it)
After that, he took us to the back and hooked us up with all the bulkheads, t's, splitters, valves, loc-line fittings, and anything else you could think of.
I was starting to get nervous after i walked to the front of the store with two boxes full of various stuff (and about 20' of 1 1/2" tubing, and 30' of another size).
I pulled my dad aside and told him money may be an issue (as i was only expecting a $150 drill job). He told me not to worry about it and said that him and my mum had been planning on treating me
In the end, i walked out with a drilled tank, two gourgeous overflows, 6 new bulkheads, 6 sections of loc-line stuff, fitting and other shtuff.
I felt really bad that my parents had to spend $1124.97 (holy #@$* !!!!) on me.
(on their 27th wedding aniversary )
So, when we got to our hotel in Niagra falls for their little aniversary trip (embassy suites, very very nice), i treated them to a steak and lobster dinner at the Keg on the ninth floor of the hotel (i had $200 that i was planning on spending at some point, why not on my parents??). Of course i still feel like a spoiled brat so im going to end up doing chores for them out of pure guilt, but whatever i can do/
So anywho, i just moved the tank downstairs, wiped it down, installed the bulkheads and all the interior plumbing (loc-line, overflows, strainers). So now all that needs to be done is attaching plywood to the stand, painting it, then styrofoam, and tank. Im switching out my many-tank sump design (realised i was asking for leaks) for a single sump
