If the brine are not enriched I would only feed them as a treat or soak them in vitamins as they are almost devoid of nutrition. I feed mysis and I always thaw and rinse it first to avoid adding phosphate to my tank.
Well, my pink millepora has kind of been declining over the past couple of weeks. Today, i noticed a little hairy crab in the coral. I immediately took it out and i am now keeping it in a container in my sump.
I cant really find many pictures of crabs like it, and my garbage camera cant get a good picture of the crab. A little description: Small, legs spread out like a spiders would. Its brown, its hairy, and its been in my declining pink mille.
So if some of you guys could post some pics and names. And perhaps some advice, it would be much appreciated.
yeah, it sounds like a gorilla crab to me. definately a contributer to the decline of the Millipora. the only GOOD acro crabs have hairless bodies and legs. they are also kind of pinkish in color.

Well, i went to my first local frag swap friday, and ended up trading four frags, getting two. And then i bought another.
Compared to other frags that were there, my frags were relatively small, so i ended up trading a stylo frag and a birdsnest frag for a green montipora digitata; Which was a good size frag.
Next, i traded a hairy green acrofrag and a birdsnest for fairly large piece of cabbage coral. Which is pretty cool.
Then, i bought a really nice frag of montipora capricornus
Cabbage Coral
Green Digitata
Red Capricornus
Overall im very happy with the frags. Soon, i hope to get a blue capricornus frag from the same guy i got the red from. Since it is bigger than the red, i hope to mount it behind to have the Red, against the blue background. Should be cool.
woot! Finally got the internet to work on my psp! lol! took me bouta minute to load this pg but w/e. pics of corals come when i find batteries 4 the cam
Well, about five minutes ago, i came down the stairs to finish putting an episode of south park on my psp, when i decided to turn on my room lights and look in my tank. I have know about a crab in my system, black, huge, and very hairy, that only seems to come out at night.
Well, tonight, i found him in my stylo. Quickly, i grabbed a net, threw my stylo over it and shook, and plop, out went the crab. After, making it out of the net he made a run for it and tried to jump of the table, but i caught him in a container of water which is now in my sump. Now seeing him clearly, its body is a good quarter and a half in width, including its legs, its span must be around four inches (this thing is a monster!!!)
Anywho, hes safely contained in my sump for the moment and i will investigate his species and stuff tomorow.
As for tonight, i will now go sleep a well earned and victorious sleep
further investigating into the container, i realised that i also caught a baby peppermint shrimp, a good 2 cm long
This tells me i have actively breeding pepp shrimp in the system YEY! I know my skunks are breeding cuz they constantly have a clutch of eggs on their abdomen. Its pretty neat tho
Been a while since ive posted and been around here. Holiday bussiness, you know
Anywho, though id update you all on the status of my tank:
Since my last update i have added a few fish-
-a pair of female Lyretail Anthias. Absolutely breathtaking fish. I will be getting more!!!
-Two days ago i picked up a blure throat trigger. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful fish in my tank. It has the deep blue big eyes, and has a Bright Bright yellow high-lighting on the edges of tis fins. Ontop of all that- its a trigger, They are very cool fish just to watch,
In the past couple of weeks my clowns have started hosting in my "crazy frog" frogspawn. YEY!
no tricks, they just started hosting one day Very cool.
Coral Wise
My bubble coral is definitely coming back. There is about a 2" square section coming back on the skeleton, with tiny bits growing on other parts. Veyr excited for this
Onto the bad news
two points on this list
I LOST MY ACAN COLONY :'(
a month or so ago, it started receeding to a point where i could see the skeleton. I then put it underneath my red cap so it wasn't in the light as much.
After it had "stabilized" i moved it onto the sandbed, half overshadowed by the rock.
thne POOF that night, there was this goo that was covering it. Same thing happened to my goni so i knew what that meant. Then sure enough, the afternoon of the next day, bleached white skeleton
So yeah, there goes $120 My local reef clubbers said they'll frag me up some of their acans for me (love those guys). But still
So yeah, hope you all had a merry xmas, happy new year, and fun reading
