16 gal. bowfront

well, here is my baby. Though the pics are a little dated. More growth of everything including algae to my dismay! Its hard to keep up the maintenance when you are building a new home that is 75 miles away from the tank!
16gal. bowfront AGA
ac30 filter with carbon
skimmer part time by CPR ( used to have seaclone)
96watts pc. lighting with moonlights (coralife setup with sunpaq bulbs)
20lbs. sand and crushed coral mix
22 lbs. LR fiji
I use ocean pure salt, Seachem additives. Kent when nothing else available.
I dislike marc weiss products, or anything thats gimmicky!

Alot of the frags were procured slowly and cautiously, as I was a newbie and unsure of the difficulty of the tank yet these next pics will show some of the progress I have made into nano reefing over the last year or so. *disclaimer* The tank is different now, I have fragged some colonies to make room for new ones and growth of others.

Just take your time and the fun of it is some common sense with trial and error. Luckily my wife is very supportive of this hobby, just as long as the money isnt a issue. I think we spent around 550.00 to get our feet wet so to speak. then I started with a frag pack beginners kit with zoos and mushrooms. Later I procured frags from different places and read ALOT. Just ask my wife on how many books were bought at barnes and noble! Learning the husbandry of each specimen really ironed out the kinks and gave me a leg up in my Marine Bio class. Which also brings me to another point. See what classes are offered and learn the science behind it. You will benefit greatly! good luck and show me some pics, even of the cycle. I will be glad to help you out when I can. Email me anytime. thanks and good reefing.

those are some great points...
i fully agree education is one of the most important items to gain.. and usually the cheapest, when from reading, and not from trial and error (that can be expensive...lol)

What skimmer are you using?
I'm setting up a nano as soon as my tax refund comes in.
I got a screamin deal on a 92 corner tank but just can't afford the space or equipment to start it up. But Me and my wife have the "bug" so were going nano

Luckily my wife is very supportive of this hobby,
I am lucky also as my wife shares in my passion for this hobby. When your house is all built do you plan on upgrading when you move? It's always a fun experence, I have moved my tanks 3 times. The last one was a 29g, took 4 hours to break it down drive was 3 1/2 hrs and 10 hrs to put it all back up . My car was full of buckets, coolers, heaters and power heads hooked up to a power inverter.

Your tank looks good, I like the softies, especially the zoos.

well, my tank is going through its phases. As I now have a junior reefer on board. My maintenance has been lacking... I know, I know, smack me! well, the bryopsis is still present but with a little chaetomorpha sp. and some phos ban stuff from seachem, I should get the nutrient prob down by the time I move into the new house. I plan on leaving the nano as my reef and getting a "big" tank for the dining room area which will be aggresive Fowlr. ie...trigger, big angel or eel ...something like that. I dunno, Im open for Ideas. Ill show you some pics of the baby and of the house as soon as I get them uploaded.
