Due to all the noise and no practical way of maintaining my
sump I decided I wanted to move it under the stairs, which also meant I wouldn’t loose any water volume if I resized the
sump to fit practically in the cabinet under my tank.
Well the move went ok, took 5 of us to move the display tank to its new location.
I created sections in my
sump, left to right (1. refuge, 2. return, 3. section for broken
LR, 4. intake area)
Sec 1. 3" LSB in the refuge section, I have a T connection with ball valve running from the main overflow pipe in order to adjust water flow through this area. (looking forward to expanding in this area, just not to sure on what yet
Sec 2. Return from
skimmer, main display return pump and heater, T connection fitted to return pump with ball valve to allow return flow adjustment without straining the pump (Tip found on TR
Sec 3. section which holds broken
LR
Sec 4. intake pump for
skimmer, could also add other filter medium if required.
Unfortunately im waiting on a new pin wheel pump, so im using sponge and filter wool, which I clean every day

(will be gone in 3 days time)
I would also like to change my drill holes in section 1 for teeth to increase surface skimming, im not sure how quick water movement should be through section 1 (any advise would be great)
I also need to tidy up my cables and replace a metal clip I've used on my overflow pipe attached to the
sump pipe work.
Any advise or suggestion would be great.
I will upload some photos of my tank in a couple of days.
