thrlride's 210 gallon mixed reef

Not much to say about my 210 since it is so new but here is a picture of it and a rundown of the equipment.

The 210 has a pair of 6100 tunzes controlled by the 7095 controller. The main return pump is a panworld 50px-x. The skimmer is a G4x with the gate valve mod as well as the recirc mod. I am running Ozone using a Sander 50mg/hr generator controlled by a Milwaukee ORP controller.

The sump is a 75 gallon broken in to three chambers, one for the skimmer, one for the return and one for a small prop system. Off to the far left of the sump is a 15 gallon tank acting as the refugium.

The prop and fuge is lit by a XM10k 250 watt halide driven by an Icecap electronic ballast. I have a SEIO 820 pump supplying the flow for the prop tank.

Lighting is three 250 watt Phoenix 14k's driven by m80 ballasts. The reflectors are reef optix III pendants. Actinics are two 4' URI Super Actinic R's. When these burn out I will replace with 5' or 6' bulbs.

I am still using the Korallin C1502 calcium reactor on this tank which is controlled by a Milwaukee SMS122.

Final picture:

Most of my fishroom stuff is in the garage which consists of a 32 gallon brute for topoff which is handled by an aquamedic SP3000 dosing pump. I also have a 44 gallon brute for water changes as well as a 100 gallon rubbermaid trough for water changes. The larger reservoir was bought with the 210 in mind.

Here are more in-depth plumbing pictures:

The return from the sump is in the center and goes through a swing arm check valve (waste of money) and then a true union ball valve. The bulkhead in the sump is a 2" which goes to 1.5" then to the panworld pump.

From the pump it goes to a union at 1.5". Then to a T which feeds a manifold which feeds my fuge, calcium reactor and phosban reactor.

After the T is a ball valve to divert some flow to those pieces of equipment. After the ballvalve is another T which splits the return to feed both sides of the tank. After the T the plumbing drops to 1" until the bulkheads which drop to 3/4". There are also unions after the return splits.

The drain is fed by two durso pipes to 1 1/4" plumbing that is combined at a 1.5" tee and then fed to the skimmer section of the sump. Behind the skimmer you can see the open plumbing. That actually purges some of the air out of the lines and seems to work rather well.

One note I haven't mentioned yet but I cut the center brace off of the 75 since that is where my calcium reactor is located. There are two 1/4" braces mounted above the baffles instead.

The power center for the 210 is handled by a pair of american DJ pc100a's. I have them mounted above the fuge on a hinge so I can access the fuge easier.

To handle a larger pump I modified the overflows as well. I cut out the standard teeth and installed black gutter guard:

It's hard to appreciate the size of this in a photo. Here is the 90 gallon that was torn down for this change:

Check out the Sinularia and how huge it is in the 90 vs the 210.

Is that sort of what you were looking for?

I'll try to get more photos tonight to show the controllers and all that stuff.

Thanks kj_yoda.

Pham411, I don't quite have a routine yet as the tank is barely over a week old. My old routine on the 90 was bi-weekly 20 gallon water changes using IO salt. Before adding to the tank the new saltwater has magnesium and calcium added as IO salt is horrible with those levels. I don't really have any other routines.

very nice indeed.

the added space gives u alittle room to expand!

also your air bleeder is huge, its great u say u like the way it performs the task.
hows the overall running sound?

great job on the plumbing, ridgit/flex tubing combo works well for u by the look of it. like the idea on the hingeable power HQ for access too!
one question though, i see ur pwer foam skimmer, but for the life of me, i couldn't see the CA reactor that caused u to modify the braces?

also how much space do u have behind the reef tank structure, & have u thought about how to tackle detritus build-up removal

Hey Veriann!

The tank itself is rather quiet. I was expecting it to be louder than my 90 but it really isn't. I'm not sure if the airbleeder works or not, I really need to plug it and see what happens.

The calcium reactor isn't in any of the images but I can open the doors and take some shots of that. It's basically sitting on an acrylic stand in the center section of the sump.

The space behind the tank is rather minimal, simply enough for a 5 lb CO2 tank. I left enough room so if I decide to remove the tunze and add a closed loop but nothing more really.

I haven't really planned anything for detrius removal other than wiping with a pad or siphoning out.
