I've had my tank set up for about 7 months now I went on vacation about 1 monthago for 3 weeks. I told one of my friends how to run it and such. When I come back i find that over $160 of my livestock died
I'm starting to have breakouts of this purple dots on the back of the tank, I'm also haveing a problem with bubbles. My tank has clear water, but bubbles are starting to come out of it. Why?
It has enough water. the filter is on tight. I have no idea what it could be
I am sorry to hear that you had such an unfortunate loss. First what are the tank parameters at the least for salinity, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH? Are the purple dots slimy and wipe off easily or crusty and have to be scraped off? The first is likely cyano the second coraline algae. Are the bubbles forming under the purple dots?
The purple dots are Coraline algae, nothing to worry about.
Need more information. Need the results of the tests Carmie asked for. What size is the tank? What filtering system is employed? What kind of pump? Do you have pictures?

With the ammonia showing and the high SpG I would do a water change ASAP!
I've never had bubbles come from the pump on my nano. Are you sure the bubbles are bubbles and not particulate matter? Are all the fittings on the pump tight?
I think if it was me I would change like 2.5 gallons with water at 1.021. This should drop your SpG to 1.027. Then I would change the same amount tomorrow and the next day with water at 1.020 to drop the Spg to 1.026 and then 1.025. If the ammonia reading is still >0 you could then continue doing changes at 1.025 to maintain your SpG and continue reducing the ammonia.
i also have a bio-cube 14, if your getting micro bubbles, make sure you have enough water in the tank. if its too low, the pump airates the water quite nicely.

Bubbles can come from the return pump only because of cavitation or by recirculating bubbles from other sources.
A low water level in the sump compartment or sump is the most common cause of pump cavitation. In the case of a Biocube, it is usually always the shortage of water.
On a 14 cube the water level variance from to little to just right to too much is probably a couple of cups or so. You have to add a little, let it adjust, check for bubbles, if they are still present add a little more and so on. Try that and get back to us.

Oh and when i get all of this sorted out i'll get more coral and some fish i'll post pics
Please keep in mind that your 14 cube is TINY AND CAN NOT HOLD MUCH IN THE WAY OF LIVESTOCK!!!!!!!!!

The corals are less bio-mass producing than fish. I was more concerned about the number of fish you would add.
You would be amazed at how many people think that their nano can hold 1" of fish per gallon of water.
