Ok I'm not goint to take the time to read through this whole thread, but I'll skim.

I would start by reducing your main system to 1.020 - Use a Refractometer! not a crappy hydrometer as they are extremely inaccurate. This will help kill some of the parasites.

Next any fish that you can catch quarantine. Over 2 days drop the salinity to 1.015 and this will kill almost all of the ich in one day. Continue to leave the fish in QT for at least 1-2 weeks as the ich can still reappear as others have noted. You may treat with copper if necessary, but this is generally the easiest approach.

I'm not trying to be rude but what is with this in is this thread. The very issue with these simple little problems becoming complex is people don't want to discuss anything anymore... they just want to talk.

Please, this is a discussion board. We want to discuss.... I can google information if all I was looking for was a generic uninteractive response.

Don't let this stop anyone from helping out with the ich problem. Discussions are always welcome so we can learn from each other.

had the full blown ich too

Well, This is my first post here. Moved from NY to Vegas and let me tell you stressed most of my fish with the overnight shipping but only lost one trigger anyway needless to say in the next week after setting up again. (tank cycled with lr for 2 months) wife giving updates till i arrived. Within a week full blown ich and my prior experience was to get 2 cleaner gobies as i had done years earlier. And now 1 1/2 months later no deaths or other outbreaks. Know it's not by the book but worked now twice in 6 yrs for me and kinda like these neon gobies

Hi Tony, to TR!

Thanks for jumping right in with your experience and advice. When you have time we'd love to hear about your tank and see some pictures of it.

Welcome aboard Tony! Glad to have you join our salty gang!

Lil Brother Ray- I surfed your myspace. I didn't know you were an official "dirtdobber!" You'll have to give the Vmiser a run for his greenbacks.

I plan to carmie I dont like when I hear about men being mean to women or not saying thank you or just being rude its not right to be rude. thats why my parents scolded me when I did bad and I learned from it. Now I am realy nice and stick to being a gentalmen I would feel bad if I was rude to someone. sometimes I mights slip up and be rude but I always correct my self and say sorry for what Iv done thats happend a number of times. being rude is not in my persanality. I remember one time I opend my classroom door for my teacher to go in first before me and she loved it she was so happy she told the hole class that I was the most genrous gentlman she has ever seen. I also was realy nice to some girls in 6th grade holded the doors open for them and I herd them say while some other boys were restling on the floor of the gym acting like 2 year olds saying I wish boys were more like Raymond and that ment alot to me and so it made me realize being a gentlman is a good thing and like you said carmie theres not many of them. Thanks
Raymond

I'm very proud of you Ray. My youngest child is 19 and he too is a redneck and listens to country music and rap. He just truly enjoys life and simple pleasures. His manners, respect for others and kindness has even enhanced his appeal in the eyes of the fairer sex. Girls can be Tom boys you know..... ride dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, hiking, fishing and anything else that presents a challenge to have fun.

Another update: All is well in my reef. I have not seen a spot of ich, rubbing or any signs of it. I am still keeping a watchful eye, but so far so good.

This is positive, just keep in mind that you may be in the phase where the parasite is not on the fish. I would not change anything for at least six weeks until after you saw the last spot of ich.
