silicon alga

Hi

I started a RSM tank a few weeks ago.....

Now there is silicon alga growing on sand and stones,.....iknow its a process that the tank goes through. I use osmos water with silicon filter.

Does anybody know how long it takes for the silicon alga to go away?

I have 3 hermit crabs that eat the alga but is there anything i can do more?

Would love some help....

Thanks

Diatom algae? Brown stuff, right? like this?

It should go away on it's own eventualy. What size is the tank? Big enough for more crabs?

You could do 3-5 more small ones IMO.

Red leg and particularly blue legs should be fine. Mine have never given me any problems at least. I can't really say for other varieties.

Very nice image Timmy. The diatoms will go away on their own. You just have to wait them out.
