Removal of Cannister Filter, Boi-Balls & Future Use of RO/DI Water

I am so happy, excited and grateful I did a search on my beloved iTunes and found these podcasts which led to this web site. I have listened to all 101 podcast in the past week or so. I removed my bio-balls and canister filter half a week to a week ago and my chronically high nitrate levels ( 40ish ) have dropped to close to 0 after one water change. I currently use tap water but plan to use a RO/DI unit soon. However I am lucky as Sydney area in Australia is renowned for one of the best water supplies in the world. I have checked the tap water phosphorous levels many times and they are ALWAYS zero. However as it is for many reasons best practice to use RO/DI water I plan to do this in the future especially for my new 150g/600+ litre tank I plan to set up within the next year.

Welcome to the Talkingreef Addicts I mean website. Were all like family here and well yes we do tend to miss each other when people are not online. Such as me working and 9pm to 9am and realizing everyone else is actually at home sleeping or working on there aquariums and the Online Users count is at 2 me and a guest. LOL
