1) i have some spaghetti worms underneath my orange cap. it looks like aiptasia at first but its not. anywayz is it bad to have this type of worm?
2) i think i have something that also look like aiptasia but clear/transparent. any idea what that may be? and if its harmful?
Without a picture it is a little dangerous to guess But every time I run across someone saying they have spaghetti worms it turns out they have "hair worms", or Cirratulid sp. worms. The most common one found in the hobby is yellow/orange and black. You can find a little more information here and some pictures to see if it matches.
They are an excellent addition to reef tanks as they will clean the rock near them of excess food that your fish/corals miss and are known to reproduce in aquariums. If they decide to live in your sandbed they will stir up your sandbed and it is assumed they will eat portions of the food and detritus that reaches the sand.
But again, a picture would help a lot in determining if we are talking about the same thing.
If it looks like aptasia, but has little balls on the end of the tentacles, it's a Mojano Anemone. They are just as intrusive...but.. pepps don't eat them. Otherwise, as mentioned, a picture would help. It could be a million things
Oh...does it look like this?
That is a hitch hiker from the coralimorph family.
Here's a picture of a spaghetti worm out of the sand. Compare it to what you have. Normally, they don't come out like this but, I have several pictures of them doing this.
Hope this helps.
