Thumbs up Marco Rock Full and Rubble (Official TR Product review)

Product Source
Marcos Rock (Direct)
Special thanks to Marc for the donation of the rock, this is really some good stuff as we will see

Marco Rock rubble
When i first heard of Marcos rock, i thought Hmm. base rock, cool, but what's the big deal. Everyone knows we can get base rock almost anywhere and its pretty cheap. well that was until i received my package. this is not cultured or man made rock, this is true high quality reef rock. the first thing i noticed about the rock was the weight, or more importantly the lack there of. it was literally like holding styrofoam it was so light. This of course meaning it is VERY porous, an attribute we all look for in rock.

so lets start with some image.
What i recieved was a box of the rubble rock, with a single full size piece of rock for preview.
This box retails for $14.00 USD for 12.5 Lbs of rubble rock (not including shipping costs)
so how much is 12.5 Lbs?
check out the size of this box
(coke can for reference)

and here is our first look inside
its really packed right up to the top with rock

now here is the part that did it for me, the part that proved to me that this was real reef rock
Have a close look at this piece, you can see the dead sponge and part of a crab skeleton still embedded in the rock, you don't find this everywhere

and here is a quick shot of the size of pieces that are refereed to as rubble
again, if you look you can still see old coral tissue, this is the real deal

and here is a shot of a full size piece of rock, again, very light and porous, this piece will be going in my tank (i will find a place for it)

Final thought on this product.
even though this stuff looks likes its freshly dried right out of the ocean, these rocks are not taken from the ocean for the purpose of sales. Marco Rocks has these rocks shipped in from an area in the south pacific where they have been sitting wasting away on land for years. i think these are great rocks.
Anyone setting up a tank, you have a great low cost source for rocks, anyone with a small tank, or looking for small rocks for coral frag mounts, here you go

Rating
This Product gets the Talkingreef seal of approval for product and customer service quality. Great product and company for hobbyists of all experience levels

Hey Rob,
Glad you got it so quickly, I hope it helps you with the influx of donated frags.

BTW Thanks,
That first picture validates the money I just invested in the new box closing equipment/station that is only days away.

iglowce,
Thanks, I'm looking forward to your order.

Another property of Marco Rocks that make it very attractive is the "lacey" texture to it. There are many pieces in my collection that have holes that you can literally see through a solid 1/2 foot of rock. This makes it incredibly easy to aquascape.

You can simply put acrylic rods, zip ties, or any other material through the stuff to create incredible displays. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure (Marc can chime in here or..I will after going to see the site again) that Marc has a presentation of sorts on his site Home that shows how you can use various methods for building the rockwork.

I got my order yesterday (same package as Rob got) and I absolutely concur with him. This is great stuff at a very fair price! Next tank I know where to order my rock from.
