Maroon bristles on new live rock

Hi everyone. I purchased some "cured" live rock from a local LFS this week and put it in my new setup. I noticed some maroon, short bristles on one rock and looked up references to red hair algae and it doesn't seem like that is it.

It is dark red or maroon in color, is short (maybe about 1/4 inch) and bristle like. Its like very short hair.

I have included a very bad pic to show it.

Positive! It's definitely organic like peach fuzz in a small patch about the size of a nickel and swaying in the flow. I pulled some off and it feels like short hair.

CarmieJo is on a distinguished road
I've got some of it too. If it is like mine it is attached with really strong holdfasts. It has not really spread and nothing seems to eat it.
