my first clump

Hey guys, I have spend days reading up on macro, I am really wanting to add color and texture to my tank. I just bought my first piece (man its been tough to get anything after the holidays!). A large clump of red algae (rhodophyta).. I would like to seperate it into a few smaller pieces to tie here and there without making a mess of things. Is this possible? Any suggestions?
Laura

That shouldn't be a problem. Most macro algaes just continue to grow when you split them.
