can anyone explain why i rarely see the feeding tentacles from my candy canes. i have 2 different kinds, and some neon green trumpets. i see them slightly at night on the trumpets, but rarely on the canes. i have some baby blue ones that where my first coral. i have had them for almost 2 years, and they have split from 3 heads to 8-9 heads. so im sure they are not dieing.
it doesnt matter what time i look. during the day, a few mins after the lights go out, hours after, 5am after a long night LOL. i rarely see them. i have always thought they just werent hungery.
i have got them to come out a little with cyclope-eez before. dont know it just drives me crazy to see other peoples candy canes with all these tentacles and i never see any. i guess i have sweeper tentacle envy LOL.
When the polyps are all on the same stalk, are they all symbiotically connected somehow? For example, feed one and benefit the entire colony?
If so, is there any tip to fragging them apart in such a way as to take a piece and not harm their neighbors?

BTW my CC (inherited) look SO much different. Smaller, practically white. Must have not been cared for too well, maybe bleached?

CC are individual polyps and do not think about the colony as a whole. Feeding one... well, feeds one and not the whole colony. Not every LPS is that way though. It's very individual.
Yours is probably bleached but I have seen many different shades out there. So you have any pics Jeff?
no pics yet... but as always, I will try and take some. Stay tuned.
