Question Current USA T5 High Output 216 Watt with actinics Lighting System

Hello everyone, I just purchased a Current USA T5 High Output 216 watt with actinics Lighting System and I was curious do you think that this is enough wattage to support Corals within my tank? Should I purchase another of the same unit to increase the available wattage?

Hello everyone, my order has not been processed yet and I still have time to change it I'm curious should I just dish out the extra 200 bucks and get a 416 watt model or stick with the 216 watt model I already ordered. I just don't want to run into not having enough light for any corals I want to grow.

well again, i havent used them, so i cant speak from experience

but my normal recommendation, is to get as much as you can afford.
if you have big plans for coral that will need lots of light, then go for it.
i think with that much in T5 you should be able to keep pretty much anything

If I were you I would honestly get a TEK Light. It has individual reflectors and will produce alot more light than a single reflector orbit fixture. I had purchased the Nova extreme 24" and compared both fixtures after I got my TEK fixture from doctor foster and smith. I sent the Nova back and kept the TEK. I think you will be happier with this one from reefgeek.com

It is a great fixture....Mybe a little pricier but in the long run you will be happier. I think with the 6 bulb you can keep just about anything and it will definitely be too bright for mushroom corals and LPS up high so put them near the bottom. All of my mushrooms shriveled up because of the lights in my setup and I only have a 4 bulb fixture.... Good luck!!

ALSO about those puffers...THEY WILL CHOMP ON YOUR CORALS AND LIVE ROCKS...Mine nipped my zoanthids and I relocated him...back to the LFS.

Thank you for the advice however, I decided to go with the 436 watt Nova Extreme fixture and I installed it yesterday. The damn thing blew my mind! The color within the tank was so brilliant. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you once again though.
