Hi to you all!
My name is Scott i am just getting started on my fist saltwater tank.
I have a 55gl DSB 4 to 5" tank, its been up for about 1m
I'm Trying to take my time on everything.
I have a 48" 260w power compact pc, it has 2- 65w 12,000k daylight bulb and 2- 65w actinic true 03 pc bulb.
I'm wanting to get a Sabae anemone in time, will my light work ok for the anemone?

Thank you!
scott

I've never kept a sebae, so i can't say for absolute sure, but that seems a little light to me. Particularly since I don't think it's going to care about the actinic lights at all.

i agree, it probably is not not enough light, not to mention that anemones need a more stable tank. the stability will come with time.

Ho Scott and to TR. Once your tank is mature, at least 6 months post cycling, you could probably keep a BTA if you changed to all 10K or maybe 3 10K and a 50/50. I kept a BTA up high in my 54 under 2x65 10K PC bulbs plus 2X20 watt NO reef (whatever that is) bulbs.

BTA is a good choice but kinda price for a first time anemone, try a pink tip (condy) they’re cheap and once your tank matures then look into a sebae.

I can't rally give my opionon of a sebae, but I think a BTA would do ok. I have a 65 with 2x96 10K and 2x96 dual actinic. GIven the fact that my 65 is probablydeeper and my anemones have done very well. Currently my GBTA is on the very bottom and has about tripled in size in the past 4 mos. I do feed t krill regularly, usually 3 a week or so.
You do need to ensure that you have a mature tank though, I ated almost a year before I got mine. I do have to say, that the anemone is my favorite part of my tank, they add alot to it, even for the casual observer.

Hi sandyshak, to TR.

Scott, I have never had a condy and can't speak to their level of care but I know that if you do go with one and want clowns to host that it would be very unusual for them to ever host a condy.

I think that maroons in the wild only host BTA's.
