Coral life 48" on 72 bow front

I recently purchased a Coralife 48" x 15" metal halide fixture with twin 175's and power compacts. The problem is that the bow tank is too narow at the ends -- so the legs don't fit.

I've rigged it so the legs are sitting in the middle of the tank -- but it's really ugly. (My wife says it looks like Battlestar Gallactica is trying to steal the tank!) She's not far off. I'd rather not use cables to hang the fixture in my den. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, I don't think it looks ugly. It looks like Battlestar Gallactica is lighting a reef giving it life.

As a marine aquarium nut for more than 40 years I can assure you that improvisation and adaptation are the mothers of invention. Countless times we've all had to re-invent the wheel in this hobby.

Stop concentrating on the fixture and enjoy your beautiful reef.

I have a hard to light 54 corner and have the same "problem". Here is my tank from the front and from the top.
Now that you mention it it does kind of look like the grappling hooks are extended and ready to lift the tank up. But since the only other choice is to suspend it from the ceiling or have a custom hood built I am as fine with what I have. I've noticed that people spend far more time looking into my tank than at my tank. I think that most people will just think that this is the way it is supposed to be.

Thanks guys... I appreciate the support. I'm not sure my wife sees it the same way! I'm thinking about cables... though the fixture is heavy. Anyone have any wide shots that show the commonly available mounts?
