our daughter set up her own mantis tank after seeing our mantises, so now even when it's not "our" weekend with the kids, she can still have a mantis to watch.
I am talking up a couple of friends to use some old 20 gallon longs into nano reefs. He has noooo idea what he is about to get into

Brian Evers had always had freshwater and had done saltwater fish....had never really been exposed to a real solid reef tank...he NOW has a Great one, and he didn't have to buy a single SPS coral.....They are all frags from my colonies! I like to view his tank as a metaphor for our growing friendship and fellow reefers!
Funny! Kinda of reminds me of when my wife and I decided to have kids, and ended up having four. "Seemed like a good idea at the time." Now with three in college, and dwindling tax deductions I am not so sure!
I wish I had a mentor on hand like you and Carmie as I went through the tank birthing process..... and knew about sites like this ahead of time.... would have saved a lot of effort, but the learning curve is the same! I appreciate you both!

I started with a 10g, then upgraded to a 30g in 4 months. The 10g went to my daughter, which only lasted 4 months, her 55g is cycling. The 10g will go to my office. Since it's all wrong for a child to have a bigger tank than a parent, I am going to start a 75g
howdy only been reefing about 6 months now so no one really has been influenced by my tank. except for the mother of the children we watch now and then but I talked her out of it. She has no money and I figured I saved a few lives at the same time.
kills me how many people want "nemo" but have no clue the amount of time involved.
