I would be interested in which camera you were using. I have a 3com homeconnect but that requires me to have a computer connected to the camera. I would much rather have a wireless one.

I did a quick search over at D-Links site....the camera that I have is the DCS-900, which is a wired camera. I just plug the cat-5 cable into the camera and into my switch. It has it's own built-in web server too.

There is a wireless version available as well, DCS-G900.

Here's a quick search result page of their different internet cameras.

Yup, I didn't care to be on camera.....well, at least my backside that is. LOL

Got home after a week being away and this time instead of my clown swimming around in my overflow box it was my 6-line wrasse.

About another hour and half to two hours before I get the camera uncovered. Then you can see all the lovely new hair algae waiving back and forth.

Get to put my ph monitor in tonight....see how bad my ph actually is.

Rob,

The camera has a green light I think it attracts the fish. The regal likes that side of the tank and only stops swimming when she is sleeping, all the tangs are getting over a bad case of Ich, she/he's had it the worst.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm very critical on myself with everything I do and its funny to hear people say it look awesome, when all I see is what I need to change or I did wrong.

I'm going to try and get a few more cameras that support Java so everyone can see the tanks.

Where is the camera at? Mine is on the leftside of the tank shooting down the lenght of the tank. I placed it there because you cant see into the house. This is a old picture of the camera.

I have 2 Cleaner wrasses that like to get into the overflow. My overflow is in the center of the tank and is 30 in tall, so its a PITA to get themout. 1 is in the sump and the other is in a differnt tank now. The skunk cleaner shrimp and the schooling bannerfish will have to work double time now.

It's in front of the tank on the right side...here's an old picture, but it's still on the tripod.

So far this is the first time the wrasse made it into the overflow box. the clown got in there the last time I was gone for a week. I guess they get starved for attention or something...and find their way into the overflow when I'm gone for a week. LOL.

Webcam Link

Glad to hear you got it up and running.

Only one problem....your link is to a private IP address....need to post a public IP (or dynamic dns name) so people outside of your home network can access it.

I actually saw a Linksys wireless webcam in best buy the other day....was around $99, was very tempting...but I didn't pick it up.

Hey everybody! What do you think the easiest way of setting a webcam up is? I don't really have a website. I could set one up, but it's limited to 20MB. I have no idea if this is enough for a streaming cam.

Any help for a beginner would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
