SKimmer on a Gravity Feed from Overflow

The brain child behind this comes from some literature I read by Calfo about putting a skimmer in a bucket or first chamber of the sump to try to feed it with the rawest tank water possible. I thought that feeding the skimmer direct from the tank would be even better

I bought this skimmer last year and have been waiting to test it out. Well I broke today and decided to plug it in and try it out!

Here is the preliminary result

Thanks

I am working on ordering the quarantine tanks for the system. Going with twin 36-24-12 tanks for this purpose.

110% awesome. top notch work. one comment, i think the a200 foam height is too high, that cup can flood unless you plan to skim thin and have a plan already. just an observation because i have same skimmer on one of my tanks.

I thought about tapping it for a drain but I am not sure if I want to risk that

I am going to skim on the wetter side and for vacation time I have a friend that I trust (the guy that plumbed this system with me) with my tank to check on things.

My goal is to make sure that every coral (for the most part) and clam that is in this system is a farmed one. The fish I want are a bit harder since none are captive raised as of yet but at the very least they will be net causght only!

yeah i hear you. i always wondered who can guarantee a fish is net caught besides for the guy who actually caught it. i don't tap into skimmer cups anymore....i just calibrate it to skim as dry as possible.
