Question brown algae?

As everyone probably knows i am fairly new to saltwater. So im not sure what this brown looking algae is. i was adding Anthenias to my arsenal and i noticed this brown fragile algae on my rocks. When i touch gentle it goes crazy around the tank. it reminds me of dust under water. is this stuff bad or just a stage it goes threw the tank has been alive for about 3 months now.

My water levels
P.H. - 8.2
K.H. - 110
ANM - 0
NITRA - 0
NITRI - 0
SALIN - 1.022
CAL - 450
TEMP IS 80

Anyone have any sugestions? thanks in advance...

Is it kind of a golden brown? That is probably diatoms, which are just a part of the maturation process.

Yeah, I would say mind was more brown than golden. It lingered for a while and finally went away when we were gone overnight and the lights didn't get turned on for about 30 hours. I don't know if it was coincidence or not but when we got home and turned the lights on my tank looked great!

we love all sea creatures.. including the fat walruses..

wwest,
as everyone has indicated what you are seeing is likely a common diatom bloom.
this is normal on new tanks and if all else is maintain properly, it will subside on its own.

If you have continual diatom blooms, you might want to check for silicates. But, like all have mentioned so far, diatom blooms are completely normal in the beginning phases!
