adding to sandbed

i want to add some live aroganite to the bed.....if i was to add a cup at a time over a period of time, would that keep it from cycling?.....i only want to add 16 pounds

That would fine, just make sure that you take the top layers if you are moving it from an already established aquarium. If you are using the stuff from the bag like Aragalive I would recommend adding it all at once.

thanks, razors....it is bagged....that wouldn't cause a mini -cycle?....i have a couple of critters in there....shrimps, snails, crabs

dreams, don't worry about it so much. i've added 20# bags of live sand at a time and not have a problem. make sure the sand has not expired and was stored under proper conditions. i'm not saying not to be cautious. if you tank is well conditioned, you'll be fine. i like to use a funnel and tube for slow and careful placement.
