Is this RO unit OK

I am looking for an RO unit because i'm sick of buying it at 40 cents a gallon and i doubt its very good quality. i am on a TIGHT buget and i was looking at this one.
http://www.aquariumwaterfilters.com/...pshop&Itemid=6
is this a good one
i would be using it to make about 2 gallons a week, so its not like i'm gonna be using it a ton.
If you could find a better one that is cheaper or at most 15$ more than this one i would appreciate it.

Where are you buying your water? Why are you concerned about the quality? I can't speak as to the quality of this RO unit but have you thought that at 40 cents a gallon x 2 gallons a week it will take you over 2 years to recoup the investment in this RO unit? I am not trying to discourage you from buying it, it is just my peculiar brand of logic kicking in.

I get it at city market (grocery store). I buy it 20 gallons at a time and it is a pain in the butt to lug it all home. i really want my own RO unit no matter how much i use it just for convinience.

water that you can buy in a jug, or water machine, or in many water stores are NOTHING compared to what you can produce yourself. if nothing else, pure water can only stay pure for so long. the computer chip makers consider water standing for more than half an hour to be contaminated. the water that you buy are not regulated by any standards. i can pour water through a piece of cheese cloth and sell it as purified. i have bought water before, but if it is't from a reputable fish store, good luck. the same goes for a lot of RO or DI machines you buy...there was NOTHING implied except for the fact that a membrane and a DI is involved. look at what is left behind in their claims. there is one SEVEN stage machine i saw at a home improvement store that states .3% silicate left. i challenge anyone to find a silica test kit that even measures .3% silicate!

Anyone ever heard of Catalina Water. It,s supposed to be purified, real natural sea water, thats ready to use without the need to add anything to it, including salt. They sell it at petco at $10 for 5 gallons of water. Thats exactly how much water I take out every 2 weeks when I do a water change. I've been thinking about buying it, but i wanna know first what you guys thought about it, or if anynone has any expeience using it.

your location shows you to be in Florida. i am really curios that being in Florida...surrounded by the ocean, is there any reason why California water is so great for U? there is nothing tropical here at all.

I do agree with FatWalrus about the REPUTABLE lfs for water. We refill our drinking water containers at the discount store for 33 cents a gallon but my lfs sells RO/DI water for 45 cents a gallon. For a few cents more the lfs is the only way to go. (I have a RO/DI system that my hubby hasn't gotten around to installing yet...)
