green coral goby

I have a green coral goby and would like to keep him but several sites i have visited said he will eat sps corals! Has anyone had experience with them eating corals. He never bothered the lps and softies i had, but acros and other sps corals will be in the new tank.

I have a green and two yellows. All three of them at times will nip at polyps. They mainly hang around my ORA pink milli that is big enough that it's no big deal if they nip some polyps. I could see however how they could easily dammage or kill a frag sized piece. I would not qualify them as reef safe.

It seems I can't stress often enough the importance of feeding our fish properly. In the wild coral polyp nippers are simply feeding on ONE of their favorite foods. One such fish is the Orange Spotted File fish...

Under most circumstances, a fish to be avoided by anyone with coral. This one demonstrated a taste for live brine shrimp at the LFS. He devoured two generous portions given at my request. I made the decision to purchase him (I always wanted one but, resisted in the past) with the intent to train him to eat fortified frozen brine shrimp. I bought him and a double portion of live brine. He was given frozen brine from the start. He didn't particularly like it. After eating the frozen until he stopped I'd reward him with a few live brine. I followed that routine until I ran out of the live brine. He's never seen live food since and his relished food items have expanded to include flake, pellet and NORI. Yes the marine based veggie for Tangs. You've probably seen these pictures elsewhere on TR but to make a point here they are again...

The Nori clip shot.

Eating flake food.

A very fat cat file fish. He seldom goes after coral polyps. When he does, it's a signal to me to toss in something for him to eat other than the polyps. He never fails to go after the other food.

POINT is to feed that goby until he doesn't eat polyps. Can it be done with him??? Don't know but they are a cool fish and worth the try.
