There I went again made the mistake thinking the LFS guy new what he was doing. Saw this cool new fish I had never seen before. Asked him how big it was and if it was reef safe and ok for my tank. Boy was he off his rocker. The little guy is about 2 1/2 inches long, but I've read they get to be 2-3 feet and grow fast. anyone know how long I have till he outgrows my 55?

After doing some research you probably have 4-6 months before it is to large. I would take it back and find a more knowledgeable LFS.

Some LFS are good, some are bad when it comes to advice. A couple years ago, when I was new to the hobby, I inquired about a Boxfish that my LFS had. I asked the owner if it would be ok in my 3 month old 72 bow front and he replied "Yes."

Luckily I decided not to buy it (until I researched it ) and I'm glad I did. That box fish would have outgrown my tank quickly and most likely would have died...killing the rest of the tank. It was not a fish to be recommended to a beginner, but he did it anyway.

Good news for my little niger. My friend who owns a different lfs is building a holding tank in his basement thats 6'x8'x3' and hes gonna take my little buddy when he gets to big for my tank. Then when he gets big enough were gonna eat him. just kidding... lol....
