Would You Do Anything?

My little angel got really beat up by the sixline and lost some scales before equilibrium was reached.

Now they are just fine together. On Sunday I noticed a whitish area on his one side and chalked it up to healing. Yesterday there was a distinctive spot on the same side (but I don't think it is in the same place).

I QT'd the fish for a month and he's been in my DT for 2 weeks. There are no spots anywhere else that I can see and his behavior is normal ie good appetite, no flashing, no respiratory distress and in general he looks less beat up. I am inclined to just monitor him for a couple of days. What would you do?

I think you've got the right idea. One of my CBS decided it would be really cool to try to eat my coral beauty a few months ago, before I evicted them from my tank. Took a nice chunk out of his side. I just monitored him closely, made sure he was well fed, and let nature take it's course. The wound did look white during healing, but today you'd never know he was hurt.

Although the first photo is of his other side they were equally bad. Looking at the second you can see he has healed quite a bit.

Yeah, his right side looks pretty good, if they were equaly bad looking to begin with. You use garlic, right?

Looks to me as though he's on the mend, Carmie. As long as the squabble is over and he's eating, I'd leave him be, with monitoring

It's that stupid little white spot that bothers me.

Yes, I had a mated pair. They were really cool, but very agressive. Kept trying to eat fish while they were sleeping.

Carmie,

Six-lines can sure be aggressive little buggers, especially for their size! That said, and with balance restored, I agree with everyone else and say let the little guy (or gal) mend on his (or her) own. Now go give that six-line a time out!

The sixline will just have to live with a bad conscience because the only way I would catch him to put him in time out is by removing the aquascape!

I would treat with melafix or pimafix while in QT.

Sounds like your sixline and my sixline should get together and start a gang. I am THIS close to pulling everything out of my tank so I can remove mine. He's just a mean little bastard!
