Need some sort of goby....

Well, some of you know i recently got an anenome carrying hermit crab. I've seen him throw his legs up and claws to grab food flowing in the water. Is there some sort of small goby that could live with one?

It is a 10 gallon with the hermit crab, a turbo snail, and soon to be brittle stars.

It needs to be fairly small, since it's a 10 gallon, and around 1/3 or so of the tank has live rock in it. There is still plenty of room for one to move around, and i could build some caves in the rock. My dad, who isn't a hobbyist, said that he really likes the firefish and neon gobies. I may be able to talk him into buying one...

Anyway, is there any that would work with this setup?

And one more question, with rotifers/copepods, etc, will they be sucked up in a filter or will they be strong enough to stay away from it? Cause some copepos and stuff will probably come with the chaeto phurst is sending (thanks again) and i have a filter running.

I can't really turn it off because it's the main thing that keeps the water moving. What should i do?

Thanks in advance.

I haven’t been in the hobby that long, (I’m sure the will be better advice coming) but if you want more water flow try a very small pump like a Rio 50. I have one in my CPR Refugium that does 60 gph.

As far as Gobies go, try a Clown Goby they are small fish that would work fine in a 10 gal. If you want sand sifting goby like a Diamond Goby make sure you stay with something small 1 – 2 inches it will most likely out grow your tank but should be fine for awhile.

A perfect Goby for a 10 would be a yellow watchman goby(Cryptocentrus cinctus).
In time, the Copepods/amphipods/rotifers will actually take up residency in your filter,so no worries there.
Neon Gobies are cool too.Firefish have a reputation of jumping out of an open top tank. Not all do,But a watchman will stay on the bottom.

your biggest problem is the hermit that will eat a small fish as soon as it catches it...

I thought the hermit would bother any gobies that sit at the bottom? cause i was thinking of a watchman or sand sifting but i thought th hermit would beat it up?

oh joy. how big is BIG? he is like 3-4 inches or so right now i think. He is usually peaceful and he usually comes to the front side when i sid down next to it and he just kinda sits there and whatches me. But the minute i put a piece of shrimp or something in there he shreds it and eats it fast. Is there any fish that could live with this? i really lke him and don't wanna get rid of him but he doesn't seem safe with anything. I may just have to get another tank for corals and fish....

See if you can trade him in & get some red-legged hermits. Then you can safely add a goby.

I thought i already said it in this thread but aby it was just the other one.

i really like him, and i'm already attatched. I can't have a pet for more then a day witout getting attatched to it. PLus, he is kinda cool and fun to whatch. i just need to get another tank sometime for a couple gobies and corals. I'll leave this one to the stars, snails, and the crab.
