These wonderful fish make a fascinating display in the peaceful community tank. One of the most popular and best fish for a reef tank! Keep one male per tank. It should not be kept with other male flasher wrasses, unless the tank is very large. You can keep females together and a group of females with a single male. It is typically not aggressive toward non-related species, although large males may chase other zooplankton feeders. Males are most spectacular when they "flash" (display) toward other fishes or their reflections in the aquarium glass.
Most specimens are around 1.5"-2.5"
Western Pacific
Feeds on zooplankton. Feed a varied diet including frozen prepared foods for carnivores and herbivores, minced seafoods.
Yeah.. I was searching for days...and figured..post here. Then..as soon as I do..the answer fell into my lap. Ah well.. someone else may learn from it.
Thanks! I'm looking for a nice friendly site to participate in and you know what? .... it's not as easy as one may think.
Don't-cha know it! Sit still here for a while, the water is warm and the natives..friendly!
The flasher wrasses are going to be in my clam tank. I'm framing and building the bad boy now. I really want to keep from getting too many fish in there. It IS a clam tank The flashers get no more than 3 inches long. I'm not sure whether or not I am going to get Carpenters or McCosker...they are similar except for the dorsal fin spines. In any case, one pair...that's it. No other fish.
Oh...I think you'll like it here! Welcome Seahorsedreams! and did you know that our own Dave (JustDavidP) breeds seahorses?!
Yep... Actually, "Seahorsedreams" is a bud o' mine. I dragged her here. Though I don't see her other half as a listed member yet!
She is a forum moderator at another one of my most prized "research sites" called Seahorse.org. She and her partner in crime "Saxman" are very knowledgeable reefers, fish keepers and sygnathid nuts like me. They have a wealth of information and networking that I and others often "tap".
Saxman doesn't even know it yet, but he is going to be one of my personal consultants when I set up my new clam tank. He's quite knowledgeable in that matter and is also a presence on Barry Neigut's Clams Direct Website. I believe he moderates there as well.
In any case, Seahorsedreams has been very helpful to others on other sites and I'm sure will make great contributions here as well.
How did you get in here with 30 posts before my un-official welcome. I must be slipping. We love active posting. Great to have you here.

It's because I'm kind of yappy. I've come in here and started typing like I've been here all my life LOL.
And it's David's fault... all I said was "Nice wrasse... get in the truck".
