If the skimmate is watery, you're skimming too agressively. Reduce the flow to the skimmer. The foam lifting the top could be caused by the same problem. Do you have a collection container that the cup can drain to or do you have to empty the cup manually?

i have gone over this thing & the only thing that i can find that is adjustable is the outflow....if i decrease that, it increases the wet foam....i also removed the airtube fro the silencer to increase air.....that did nothing
i had it hanging on....so, i took it and put it in the fuge & removed the lid (then it doesn't overflow)....if i leave it running like this, maybe it will prime itself?
Hmmm....I don't know. Not familiar with the turbofloater. Can you provide a picture of it where you have it?

dangit..my camera battery is dead....and my cord is missing in all this chaos
i have the body of the skimmer in third section of the mega-flow, right after blue filter.....i have the pump & outflow are in the second section (fuge area/after where the bio-balls are supossed to go)
i might be able to flip it around so the whole thing is in the third section...this was just the easiest to work with

turbofloter, like all other needlewheel systems require a break-in period. usually you just take the lid or cup off and let it run for about week before adjusting. i am assuming you have in sump set-up.
good move. the skimmer will also go crazy if you are using any kind of unrinsed filter pad, just added any water conditioner with slime- coating, or right after a water change. most skimmers cannot really be fine tuned right out of the box.
yep, it sure did:-)....i am having to "fine tune" the air going in, but it is skimming.....i said, on the other thread, that the directions should say just above water inlet and not just above pump....big difference there....thanks a bunch, that thing was driving me crazy
