closed loop?
I was wondering if anyone thinks it's possible to build a closed loop system with a mech filter, chem. filter and UV sterizer, and heater built in, using
pvc . I know you would be killing a lot of organisms in the tank, but just was wondering if I could make one? I know you can buy one.

I suppose you could, but I would think you'd need a SERIOUS pump to push through all that, especialy when the mech filter starts to catch
detritus .

lol no, right now I just have it in my head, I know I could use 2 to 3"
pvc for the tubes, I just dont kow how I would run the
pvc carring the water through the
pvc tubes. Also how would I cap the tops of the tubes but still be able to remove them to replace things like carbon. Sorry if that doesnt make any sense

You wouldn't want to plumb all that directly into a closed loop, there will be WAYYYY to much flow for that stuff to work properly. You could "T" off and put that stuff on its own leg, but even that would be challenging to get the flow right. You would want to buy gate valves (NOT ball valves) if you decide to do it that way.
