skimmers recommendations

can someone recommend a skimmer for me
i have a 36 gallon bow front with a 14g sump
ive heard that the hob skimmers are good but i want to minimize the visible equipment!!
it would need o have a small footprint to fit in he sump

so whats the best small skimmer that i won't waste money one?

Value for the dollar...I don't think you can beat ASM G-Series skimmers. for that tanks, probably a G-2.

poppin_fresh is on a distinguished road
I would look at the ASM G1 or the Tunze Nano DOC skimmer. A little more money, but a better value in the long run IMO.

the tunze 9010, or the octopus ps-120 or 150 would both be good for a 37g, and small footprint on both

does anyone know about the octopus brand???
it looks like it would fit well...

everything i have read on Octopus skimmers is great for the money. one of my LFSs sells them and swears that they can not be beat at the price.

hey Privitor
i have a similar situation as you, 45G display (small stand) with an 18T glass sump. I use the tunze 9015 and I love it! easily adjustable with minimal maintenance, and can be used in sump or in tank (but why would you want to do that!). their footprint also is very unobtrusive. can't be more than 5x5inches.
never used the octopus but I'm sure it would be much more cost efficient. the tunze's are expensive

the only thing i dont like about the tunze is the cup size. its too small. those are made for nano reefs 20g or less.

i think i will go with an octopus or a asm skimmer unless someone can change my mind!!!

ASM G-1 or Octopus. both would be great bang for buck.

I did some research and some people on this site recommended the CPR Bak Pak 2RR. I went to ebay and found a guy selling factory seconds (brand new, facotry guaranteed equipment that has a minor cosmetic blemish that keeps them from selling it in the stores for full price) and got it for $103 which includes S&H. Every other store had them at 130-140 bucks not including S&H. Here it is. Ebay Link. After only 2 days of adjusting it, it is picking up some nasty stuff. Seems to be a good skimmer for a real good price.
