    Coralife skimmer

I finally found a descent LFS! All the fish appear healthy, tanks are clean, and they have merchandise in stock that is not horiblly overpriced!

Anyone have an opinion on the Coralife Needle Wheel Skimmer? I am thinking about getting the 65 gallon model for my 55 gallon tank. Its retailing $129 at the LFS.

i have a coralife rated for 220. as far as cheap skimmers go its one of the best but i hope you will listen to my advice more closely then i listened when i was told get a better skimmer. dont waste your money on a crappy skimmer as within a few months you will be kickin yourself and goin to the lfs to buy a new skimmer as i will be doing next month. You get what you pay for and I am certain there are skimmers out there with metter construction made of better materials that have better efficiency.

But I have that very Coralife skimmer for my prop tank, and while some will diss it, it's a great entry-level skimmer. Pretty solid.

I have the same skimmer in my 55. It is doing a fine job. Although if I had the money I wish I had gotten the next size up, but for now im very happy with the results. I bought a tank from someone who had it running for 5 years and it looked kinda crappy. Put the skimmer and some power heads and things are booming. As far as the price sounds like your getting the average price for a lfs. As I worked for where I got mine I only paid cost. $68
