Skimmers ASM vs Euroreef

Hello

Need some advice, I am looking to get a new skimmer and the ASM skimmer prices are quite good, is there anyone that has one or experience with them.

The ASM G1x can handle 150g and since I have 125g I thought this would be perfect for $204 US.

But I hear a lot about Euroreef but they want $339 for a RS135 to be able to handle a 125g.

This is a big difference in the pocketbook

i was also looking at the asm skimmer when i was looking in the market. asm's are the lookalikes of the euro reef i think. i went with the euro-reef cs180 for my tank and i love it. i have no experience with the asm's but from what i read, the are also good skimmers.

I have heard that the ratings for euroreef are much more realistic than some others. Like the ASm G1x says 150g but many reccommend it only up to 75g. I was looking at ASM g2 for a 90g tank, but found a good price and decided to go with the euro CS100. Havent set it up yet so I cant speak to how it performs.

doing a little more research I think I will go with the Euroreef RS-135 it is about $365 cdn. Heard a lot about Euroreef and I want to make sure I get a decent machine. I have tried to save in the recent past with my setup and sometimes it has bitten me in the butt and sometimes not.

yups, skimmers is something i didnt want to skimp out on. i tried to save money before and it just ment more work for me, my advice DONT SKIMP OUT ON THE SKIMMER!! haha. take it as you will.

You will love the Euro-Reef. I have three different models, and no complaints.

I have a Berlin but my lfs who I know and trust uses ASM skimmers on all their tanks. The owner says he thinks they are the best bang for the buck...

I think the only difference is that the ER is made of better materials which means they are more durable. I don't think you will see a difference when it comes to actual skimming. I have a ER, but hear great things about ASM.
