Calcium Reactor & Kwalkwasser

I have a 210 Gallon tank, mostly soft corals, but am getting some LPS to grow.
I am running a 818 GEO Calcium Reactor. I also have a 75 gallon sump.
Just did a water test, everything was either at 0, or right on the number.
Only test that I couldn't do, was a Magnesium test, I don't have one, was told that you really don't have to test for that,
when everything else is doing fine.
So, here is the question,
I know a guy that runs a Coral shop, he doesn't let out what all he does for his corals, but found out, he does run a Kalk reactor also
along with a Cal Reactor. His coral really grow & look wonderful.
So, is that something that everyone does, should everyone be doing that ???
Of course I am talking about a heavy loaded tank.
Since I hooked up my Cal Reactor, I have gotten some Coraline to grow, plus at first my Corals really took off.
But have since kinda stopped, both things.
A friend of mine used Bonic, I talked him into using a Cal Reactor, his coraline went from very very good, to only being fair.
His corals are acting the same way mine are, just coming out, but very little to no growth.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & enjoy the hobby.
