underwater glue?

I want to take a very large piece of PVC, a colmn that reaces to the top of my tank. I want drill large holes all over it. I then want to glue either reall small fragments of rock or large granuals of sand all over it. I am worried about the glue to use, because I dont want to have the fish to start and pick it off. What glue should I use?

use a 2 part epoxy. I read a thread on RC that use 2 part epoxies to glue sand all over a foam structure. Check this RC link Reef Central Online Community - DIY Rock - Joe's Version
You may also want to check with Geothermal Aquaculture Research Foundation Home Page they have a way to make realistic rock out of sand and cement. If you made your tower out of this stuff it would become live rock in time and help with bio filtration. Or you could also coat the pvc with it

Great thankyou for your help. I realized that unless I use a really wide PVC, that I wouldnt be able to go all the way to the top of the water column. I stll want to do this thanks for your help.

Instead of Pvc, I could use eggcrate, and square of with holes so that fish could go in and out. I just dont know how I could put the four sides together.

You can also use Great Stuff foam spray. There are examples in this thread Hi!!! 375g :>) mix reef
Basically you spray it on and embed sand and bits of rock in the foam while it is pliable.

I just read that on a thread that photjohn sent me, I am definetly using that stuff. Your right though I can put the sand on while it's still pliable, lol I was just thinking how I would do that with sand. Good call

did you read the entire thread? He had some problems with the eggcrate twisting as the foam set up. you may need to figure out a way to stabilize the structure. Some metal rebar would do the trick. you could take it out when done.
