Question Reef Safe Magnets?

Anyone have any opinion if the rubber on these are reef safe?
K&J Magnetics - Products

I would like to mod my MJs and am tinkering around with an idea for an adjustable mount.

Don't see any reason why they wouldn't be assuming the rubber is chemically inert.

Thanks George.

So I dropped them an email asking if they were inert or not. This was their reply:
The rubber coating is vulcanized rubber, which is pretty much just like the rubber tires on cars. It has the same new rubber smell to it, so I assume it is not completely inert. I don't know if the rubber would affect fish or not.
So this leads to another question; (since I'm no rubber expert)

Is vulcanized rubber safe?

You can DIY to make them reef safe by putting them in casting resin. Check out what this guy did:

Seahorsedreams will become famous soon enough
I just bought the stuff to make those..... well, I'm making something with a magnet and a shell to have a nice suspended feeding dish thought this approach looked interesting. I'll let you know how it goes.

Very interesting! Thanks for the link.
I have an idea to use Loc-Line for an adjustable mount. I was hoping I could use the rubber magnets to prevent the two sides from banging together and damaging the tank. I guess I could put the rubber one on the outside and coat the inside ones with a s&/^load of silicone.

Renee, I'd like to see your feeding dish when its done.
FYI, KJmagnetics does sell epoxy coated magnets.

I'm pretty sure these are reef safe, just in case the resin breaks.
