Yes...Marc and Renee...
It is a
DIY means of being able to take "top down" images of the tank, keeping my lens from touching the water and eliminating the distortion of the water surface..
I just love acrylic!

damn, i might have guessed that, but i couldn't tell that the bottom end was closed..
cool, i use a plastic box, but tis not very clear..

What type of underwater housing did you get? I was looking at some last week. But I'm not sure housing can incorporate my macro lens... do you know if they accept larger lenses?

It took me sooo long to make this... actually..it took Gustavo soo long...
All in all....about 5 minutes
Gotta love having the right tools and the materials nearby.

Actually David was helping me to modify a
sump that I made about 2 years ago ( the guy wants to cut about 14" of the Length - was 64" long- and reconfigured the positions of the baffles) Then David mention something like "Would be cool if we could make a box to attach to the lens of the camera and use to take top down pictures" and I look at the corner of my basement and guess what? I had about 3 feet of 3"dia acrylic tube and some nylon screws and in less then 5 mins that thing came to live
I thing took longer for Mr. D get upstairs and bring some extra beerS then to make this thing.

how about a how-to thread that we can "stick" in the
DIY forum, or better yet, a short video we can do as a quick video podcast..
just don't let Dave talk, i don't have enough bandwidth for a video that long...

I can take video of anything..problem is, I don't have a digital video cam...it's in 8MM.
