Durso or Bulkhead?

hello all!
as some may know i have a seaclear system 2 aquarium
and i plan to drill it. i was wondering which would be better? drilling at the red dot in the first compartment and then having a bulkhead there and a elbow and then a durso come up from there? or could i get away with a bulkhead higher up in that compartment and then just have a strainer over it?....and while im at it what size of a pump would i need to return either? or will it just overflow however much is pumped up?..
thanks alot! any help would be greatly appreciated!

The standpipe should be connected to a bulkhead that is at the bottom... not one on the side.

And I would definately go with a standpipe over a just a bulkhead.

Could be a problem ... maybe not. Can't guarantee when it's not a straight shot to the sump. A few peeps have had problems when the drain flow was not straight and the only way to fix it was to redrill or redesign.

so in this case would it be better for my to just drill higher with a strainer? or should i give it a shot? or just go crazy and try to drill through my stand and tank in order to get it at the bottom? lol
