It was really easy and I didn't start a fire
, It did take some time to wire and space out the face plates, but it makes life so much easier.

not bad
I am like the clean look, but I hate the open back on all that wiring, according to the national electrical code, every outlet has to be in a box. I am an electrician so sorry for be so picky, but it is very dangerous to think this is a safe design.

Billy...agreed. Yet...my "octopus" behind my tank is an accident waiting to happen.
Whenever you can control the tangle of wires and use dedicated systems to put things in order, you should.
I'm sure Billy will also agree that an aquarium system, of any kind, should be on a
GFI outlet/system. Also, a quick and inexpensive investment in a grounding probe is encouraged. I had TONS of problems with errant current in my 75G. It doesnt' bother the fish much (though could inlfuence LLD in some fish) as they are not 'grounded', but you would sure get a nice jolt if you put your hand in. Especially if you were barefoot and 'grounded' yourself.
All good points. WELCOME TO THE
TALKING REEF BILLY!

Billy,
I want to make the outlet by my aquarium
GFI . Looking on the internet it seems to be that you can replace a non-GFI outlet with a
GFI outlet as long as you wire it right. Does the circuit breaker in the panel need to be
GFI as well?
Thanks.

now im not an electrician, but its my understanding that as long as the outlet is wired properly, in that is has a proper ground line (positive, negative, and ground) then you can simple replace the old outlet with a
GFI

Gfci
You are correct Rob. As long as you have a Black, White and Ground (bare) you can just add a GFCI outlet and no need for GFCI breaker, If you didnt want to add the outlet you can just add the breaker to that circuit.
