i think i asked this before, but do you guys think that if i use a mag drive 18, pumping 1200 gal/hr after head, can my overflows handle it? i have dual overflows that run through 1" pvc. and as you know, the threading makes it slightly less than 1". will the mag drive 18 be too much for my tank? i don't want to overflow it.
They state that the mega flows handle 600gal/hr each and I find that to be at its max. I have one on my 90gal and running a mag9.5 and after headloss I figure I'm running around 700gal/hr. I still have to dial down the ball valve slightly to copinsate for the force from the overflow. You also have the option of modifying the overflows, and now would be a great time since it is not set up yet.
well, i don't really know how, since my bulkheads neck down so much. but anyways, i guess the ball valve idea sounds good. i still don't know if i want a mag drive 12 or 18. any openions? the 12 will run at 950 gal/hr and the 18 will run at 1200 gal/hr after head.
A quick question. Don't rubber or plastic containers tend to warp? I put my fish in one when i completely cleaned out a freshwater tank and it warped enough that you couldn't put the lid back on, and then I had to go back out and by buy a new from target. Gosh my mom was angry.
yes it does warp. and no i can't put the lid on, but with the ratchet, it maintained a steady warped state for 2 weeks. so i think it will work in my case.
wow i was reading you page and i think i got the solution to your problem now my best advice if you want to go and get container's do it but i recommend you get your self out of trouble and design a sump and if you can make it out acrylic you will not regret it o have some one make it for you
BTW
you will be buying stuff to set up you re tank one then other and other trust me just go strait to the point or at the end it will be like 10k$ on extra stuff or tings and projects you start up and they go wrong
ok, well most everything is in, and i still plan on using the rubbermaid sump.....hopefully it wont prove to be a problem, it is the only thing that i have gone cheap on, and it seems to work well.
anyways, i will be applying the glue and setting it all up within the week. i hope i can post pics of the whole process.
they are in post #34. 2 lines above where you quoted from it's just the setup sump. and for an update, it is working well, no leaks and the fish and coral are happy looking.
