Wellllllll......

First and foremost... how are y'all doing?

Second... I'm truly sorry for my absence. I know I've not been pulling my weight around here for some time now. Let me tell you why.....

Back about a year ago, I was promoted to a corporate position at my company. This is, as many say, a real healthy stretch for me. I'm the youngest officer this company has ever had. Most of my "peers" have children who have left home, and started their own lives. These guys and gals that I'm working, shoulder to shoulder with, every day, are seasoned professionals who put in more than 15 hours a day at their jobs. I, on the other hand, have two young kids, and am still a kid myself Okay..so I am turning 40 this year, but I'm still a kid. In any case, the workload, the travel (responsible for offices in MA, CT, RI, DC, and MD), the baseball and other kids' activities, well, they are causing me to have little time to myself.

Most recently, my aunt, who was a second mother to me, fell ill with an aggressive cancer. A week later, her husband, who was in the hospital for pre-op evaluations for a knee surgery, was found to have almost complete blockage in his heart. While his was was undergoing serious chemo and radiation therapy, he underwent a triple bypass. My aunt succumbed to the cancer and died just a couple weeks ago. Just before she passed, her husband, who was recovering nicely from the heart surgery, suffered a serious stroke. He didn't even make his wife's funeral. I've been up to my armpits in serious family responsibilities there. My mom, and her siblings live all over the country. Me, my cousins and family friends have been doing what we can to keep the family together, and comforted.

I've found myself in the middle of the busy season at the office. I've got a major Government Inspection on June 4th. One that I am NOT ready for. I've no choice but to spend MEGA time to get prepared for this. The auditors will be gone June 8th and hopefully, will let my boss (the CEO) know that our program is in good shape. As soon as they leave, I'm packing. I'm required to go to Nevada to attend classes, and become re-certified as an Industrial Security Professional (ISP). I will be returning to Boston on the 25th of June. Then, my friends, I should be able to settle back into life, and spend more time on my hobby; my salty home, and all of you.

In the mean time, I will do my best to check on the private messages etc. and if you need, you can always email me. Gwennie... hon.. thanks for the text message. I got it during the evening on a particularly busy, and bad night. It made me smile to know that you and others are thinking of me. Again, I will do my best to get back in here as soon as possible.

Dave

Hi Dave,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

It's good to hear from you. Remember that chart from Psych 101 where you get points for life events and add them up to see how stressed you are. I think you are way over the limit! Hang in there.
