Phurst, Well... I've been thinking about moving. Maybe this would be the perfect opportunity for me. I'm sure that by the time I make up my mind about moving, it will be sold. Virginia is a long ways away from Wisconsin.
Christensonjes, what state are you from? Saint Cloud, Minnesota?

We moved to NC from NE Ohio back in the mid 80's. I can assure you that you would find VA far warmer than WI. The only time I wore my winter coat this year was on an Amtrak trip when we got out at stations in the northern Great Plains.
but i like the cool (sometimes cold) weather that we have here. VA is pretty warm, not sure if it's for me. I've been in VA and NC, both are beautiful.

We actually ended up here when my hubby got laid off just a few years after we were married. We didn't have a house in OH or kids. We'd visited VA and NC and liked them so much that he concentrated his job search here. The only use he has for cold is ice fishing! I really liked to participate in winter sports before I got hurt. I can say that with the crutches the lack of snow and ice is a real boon.
I'm originally from WI. Grew up in Madison (My wife would tell you, I never really grew up) She'd be right.
I loved WI's change of seasons. Winters could be long and brutal but then came spring and everything just came back to life. It was good then until about Christmas and New Year's day. Then, until spring again, it was brutal once more. We moved to FL a year and a half ago and I must tell everyone we love it here. Our house survived three huricanes so far, two pretty serious before we lived in it and one that fizzled out a bit as it blew through. I was in the house for that one. They're interesting to say the least. The heat of summer can be oppressive during the middle of the day but, it's nice in the mornings and evenings. We enjoy the pool a lot!!!
The funniest adjustment we had to make moving to FL was seeing Christmas lights on Palm trees. After awhile you get used to it but still is funny during the season. Of course Christmas without snow is a bummer but, that happens occasionally in WI, too.
CarmieJo,
I've never been to VA or NC. Might have to take a drive up that way and check it out. I've heard it's beautiful.

Reaching my 70th BD, I realize that I cannot help but grow old. However, I refuse to grow up!!! My wife would tell you, "He may be 70 but, He's going on 17". Life is wonderful with a woman like that.
I certainly would let you know because the feeling is mutual, Carmie. Thanks!

VA is great but be prepared for weirdness. It is really two states, northern (NOVA) and southern, with the dividing line running through Richmond. Southern VA is southern, and don't be shocked to see Confederate flags on trucks and even outside schools. I grew up in Nova, in Alexandria, and it is far different up there. Fredricksburg, where this store is located, is actually where my sister and her family live and the town is rapidly expanding. Might be a good business opportunity, the area around there is getting richer by the year. Heavy marketing in Fairfax county would be worth every cent.
I wonder if they will allow you to take live fish and coral on the DC metro?
